MAC Discovery…

IMG_3086

So I recently made a discovery which will possibly change my make up preparation for when I go out on a night out forever. I’m a huuuuuge fan of MAC. If you keep following my blog you’ll discover this as I’ll definitely be doing some hauls and tutorials in the near future.
But this post is just a quick share of my recent discovery that I think may help you guys.
So as we all know MAC Stock some amazing products which although they’re expensive I can’t seem to stop buying them. The lipsticks and lip liners change my mouth like no other brand can and I’m yet to find a foundation that gives me the exact coverage that I want and is suited to my complexion.
Although I’m always looking for cheap little cheats to help make my beauty routine easier I doubt I will ever entirely move away from MAC products.
So to the point of this post…
On my birthday this year my best friend thought it would be nice to book us in for a complete MAC make over. We booked appointments for 5:30pm which were an hour each which meant that I had longer to enjoy myself and have a few drinks with my friends before heading out for my birthday celebrations.
I loved my make up. They did exactly what I wanted and even taught me a few tricks along the way. All for £30 pound, which I later found out I got back to spend on products…
So really the makeover is free.

What I’ve decided to do in future is whenever I need products pay for a makeover beforehand and get the products for free essentially.
I have a friends birthday coming up and I’m running low on foundation and concealer so il definitely be booking myself a makeover for that night. Save myself a job of worrying about my make up that night.

Here are the results of my makeover… Please let me know if you want the details of any products used..

MUA madness

IMG_3034

Ok, so I have always been a huge fan of make up tutorials and generally trying out new things to change the way I look. I have followed various beauty blogs since before I can remember. Seems to be the thing of our era right?
I’m quite confident that my cosmetic skills are preeeetttyyy good. I’ve been working on them for years but like everyone else I’m always wanting to become better. Learn new skills.

One thing I have always struggled to master is contouring. Mainly because when I first heard about it Kim kardashian was doing it and I couldn’t afford to use the products that she was using so I just thought Ahh sod it my cheek bones are visible enough and who really needs definition on their nose? Right?!

But oh was I wrong.

Last year I met a girl at the local star wars auditions (obviously didn’t get the lead) she was a few years younger than me but we had a great day together and ended up going for lunch after auditions and swapping details to keep in touch.
She’s beautiful and her make up is always flawless. One of those girls you look at and say.. Why don’t I look like you.
I’ve noticed recently she’s started doing make up tutorials and obviously watched every single one of them. Which is where I discovered something that will probably change the way I do my make up forever.
A contouring video…
I know you’re probably thinking there are so many out there what makes this different but personally, I have watched many and this one was truly different because of one thing. PRICE.

The tutorial shows Elle (my friend) contouring and highlighting her face using mainly MUA (make up academy) products. Stocked in your local super drug. Most products less than 4 pounds.

I know I am the worst person for seeing a cheap make up brand and immediately assuming it’s shit. The majority of my make up is mac and i know that I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to what I put on my face and I would usually just walk on by not giving the brand a second look. But after the tutorial I let my curiosity get the better of me and ventured out to see what Elle was talking about. I. Only. Spent. 18. Pounds. 18 pounds on 6 products. What?!

Here’s what I bought:
MUA Pro-Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit

For years I’ve searched for something that I can use to make my eyebrows look normal. I have really dark features and hair but the hair on my eyebrows is rather sparse. Which makes me look a bit odd when I have a full face of make up on. I’ve used expensive brands eyebrow kit like benefit and HD brows but they’re so expensive it hurts me to pay so much for something so little.
I can honestly say that this much cheaper duplicate product does exactly the same job as the ones that I’ve been paying quadruple the price for and it doesn’t hurt me so much.

MUA Pro Base: Prime and Conceal

IMG_3040

This is the item I would never have even thought to buy but actually changes so much. This is used like a primer so is applied after moisturising but before your base foundation. The purple and yellow help to brighten your skin and I used it on my dark areas like my dark circles under my eyes. The green palette is used for calming the redness of your skin and can be used on spots and general blotchiness. Literally. If anything I would scream at you all to buy this product out of all of them as it does so much.

You are not hungry. You are bored.

I have always found it impossible to diet. I’m a massive foodie, however at the same time I am the fussiest eater ever. I live with two men (my boyfriend and his brother) who are both massive fitness fanatics. Which means constant judgments on everything I eat. I sometimes feel like I have to eat things in secret because I’m haunted and plagued by “Do you really need that, Soph?” or “oooph, Carb on Carb. Do you think that’s a good idea?” and “Why don’t you try eating this instead!?”

Unfortunately the only motivation comments like these give me is a stronger will power to eat what I want. I’m not fat and I have always been quite athletic, and eating what I want doesn’t make me gain weight… but it doesn’t make me lose weight and achieve the body I want either.

One of my biggest problems is that I work in a nightclub and find it impossible to have a regular eating pattern, especially when my hours are allover the place at work. Although most days I will eat dinner at 7:30/ 8pm before work, I find that by the time I get home from work at 5 in the morning I’m usually hungry again, but also tired which means I just want to eat any old thing and get into bed. It’s so easy to eat what you want when you want and be happy. But then I guess you’re happiness doesn’t last forever wen you don’t get the body you want.

Secondly, I am not a breakfast person. I never have been. I feel like I never will be, and my job means that I find it impossible to drag myself out of bed 2 hours after I got into it for food. I honestly don’t know how I can resolve this problem in my current situation, and think that until I get some regularity in my life, I will always struggle eating when I’m supposed to and what I’m supposed to.

This blog post is just a way for me to express my issues with food and how I need to resolve them. It’s the beginning of my journey and I feel that by writing everything down and sharing with you guys I can move on and improve my issues.

Peace out bloggers 🙂

A Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins At A Single Step

I have spent my whole life being overly skeptical about what one person can and cannot achieve. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never been a ridiculously determined or overly ambitious, because; although I have always had bursts of enthusiasm and massive aspirations, I am impatient and stubborn and lose hope rapidly if I don’t see results immediately. This is always been the way I approach things (this is probably the same for millions of you out there, some of you hopefully reading this blog).

However, recently I have been feeling more determined than ever, over the past year or so I have started to believe that everything you do has purpose, and if you don’t do something you want to do, or push yourself as far as you can you will always miss out on something. Obviously there are always going to be boundaries in life but I have honestly started to believe that with solid determination and will power and a lot of hard work anything is achievable.

Let me tell you about myself and what I want to achieve with this blog. The best way to start would be by telling you my name, Sophie. Hi. Nice to meet you. I am a 23 year old recent Drama Studies graduate with a passion for writing. I love reviewing and sharing my opinions on pretty much everything. I feel that it is impossible for me to give this blog one agenda, as I know I will find it impossible to keep it themed. Sorry folks. I have always had a passion for fitness and exercise however never so much that I set myself goals and took myself seriously.

I have had a difficult few months for reasons that I wont go into, however it’s made me realize that life is too short to laze around and do nothing. I am quite a chilled, laid back person and love nothing better than sitting at home watching a movie with my friends and boyfriend, however I’ve made it my goal to get out and do something with myself. I want to achieve something, get somewhere, have a purpose.

I want to start a journey that I can share with you. I want to start taking my fitness seriously and I feel that by blogging my journey I can see and share with others my improvements. I also want to do something I love. Write. Which is why this is going to be an everything blog.

Stay tuned for progress…
